All Saints Church Kings Heath participates in Birmingham Heritage Week for the first time.

Church open 10.00am to 2.00pm, free admission

On Saturday 7th September 2024, All Saints will open its doors for a public Heritage Week event from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

The Church has been an icon and community resource at the heart of Kings Heath ever since it was consecrated in 1860.

Visitors are warmly invited to come in and discover its interesting interior and a little about its past.   Refreshments are available from the Community Café on All Saints Square.

Visitors may wander around All Saints at leisure or, for a more detailed visit, you can book one of our free guided tours.   Tours are at 11.00am and 12 noon and each will last about 30 minutes. Leaflets for a self-guided tour are also available.

A small exhibition will include fascinating details about our generous donors, some of the couples who met and married here and our decades of outreach and education. The archives include a treasure trove of local history and demonstrate the continuing relationship between the growth and needs of the diverse local population and the development of the Church. Highlights of the expansion of the building over many generations illustrate the ambitious long- term vision of its leaders. The building work around All Saints Centre demonstrates that investment in appropriate facilities for outreach to the wider community is still key to planning for the future in 2024.

All Saints sadly lost many members during the 1914 – 1918 War.  A significant amount of research has been done to uncover their personal stories.  Come and learn more about those named on the WW1 War Memorial and the part they played in the Great War.

If you are interested in exploring the archives in more detail we welcome offers of assistance with cataloguing and storing our material, so that many more exciting discoveries can be made available for future generations.

We look forward to seeing you.

A FESTIVAL OF ALL SAINTS WEDDINGS September 27th to 29th 2024.

You are all invited to participate in this new event planned for September.
A Festival of All Saints Weddings has scope to reach out in many directions. We want to reflect different experiences of love and commitment and embrace over 160 years of local and social history, changing fashions, traditions and expectations. The Festival is a way to reconnect with former parishioners and celebrate our current forward-looking, inclusive community.
The Festival’s main focus will be an exhibition displaying items from decades of weddings at All Saints. Some may have resulted in happiness and harmony, others in heartbreak and hardship, prompting both reflection and celebration. Whatever your story, if you were married at All Siants Kings Heath we would love you to share it.
The event will launch on the evening on Friday 27th September and the exhibition will be open throughout Saturday 28th and the afternoon of Sunday 29th with a short concert of wedding music proposed for Saturday. Sunday’s 10.00am service will focus on human love and commitment.
All those who were married or had marriages blessed at All Saints at any time during its long history are encouraged to lend items and share their stories. Photographs, orders of service, lucky charms, dresses and suits are welcome, subject to there being sufficient space to display them all!
The Festival is still in early planning stages. To make it a success we will also need flowers, display materials, monetary donations, musicians, refreshments and volunteers, both during the build-up and at the event.
If you are willing to lend items or get involved in the Festival in any way please express your interest by e mail, to socialandfundraising@allsaintschurchkh.org including details such as the year of the wedding or what support you can offer.

Alternatively, if you attend All Saints you can complete a form on the Welcome Desk. Whatever you can contribute will be very much appreciated
